In 2014, wind accounted for about 4.4% of end-use electricity demand in the US. A “plausible” future would see that figure growing to 10% by 2020, 20% by 2030, and 35% by 2050, the Wind Vision report concludes.
Reaching those levels would mean the US having somewhere around 113GW of installed wind capacity in 2020, 224GW in 2030, and 404GW in 2050 – up from 66GW at the end of 2014.
