Enel has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC) – the world’s largest distribution and transmission operator – covering co-operation on smart grids and sharing experiences of “implementation of renewable energy generation”.

Enel – whose Enel Green Power subsidiary is a major global renewables developer – is also planning a closer partnership with Chinese utility Huaneng.

Huaneng has also recently signed a MoU with Siemens for a strategic co-operation covering several energy technologies – including wind power.
