The “economics are not quite there yet” for wind to compete without incentives against fossil fuels, Steve Trenholm, chief executive of E.ON Climate and Renewables North America, tells Recharge.

“I think it would be a challenge for us, or anybody, to build a project that could compete right now without the production tax credit incentive,” he says, even though E.ON’s capital structure is such that its cost of money is very competitive.
