EEW SPC Gode Wind monopile nod

EEW's monster monopile weighs in at 930 tonnes

An EEW SPC XL monopile

Bladt Industries has tapped long-time partner EEW SPC for monopiles for the Gode Wind 1 and 2 offshore wind projects.

Specialist steel fabricator EEW SPC’s Rostock, Germany facility will be used to produce the 97 XL monopiles.

Bladt was last year handed a contract by developer Dong Energy to deliver foundations to Gode Wind 1 and 2, which will come in at 582MW between them in the German North Sea.

Bladt and EEW SPC have worked together on big projects such as the UK’s London Array and Gwynt y Mor, and Baltic 2 in Germany.

Fabrication of the foundations will begin in the third quarter of this year.

The Gode Wind projects are due to be in full operation in the second half of 2016 using Siemens 6MW turbines.
