A £14.9m ($24.7m) Enterprise Zone Capital Grant Fund has been awarded for the Able Marine Energy Park (AMEP) scheme that aims to serve as a major hub for the UK’s offshore wind sector.

AMEP worked together with the Humber Local Enterprise Partnerships and North Lincolnshire Council to secure the grant and successfully outbid 12 other LEPs.

The £450m, 367-hectare energy park site in northeast England, sitting across the Humber from the Alexandra Dock site where Siemens is contemplating building a factory for its 6MW offshore wind turbine, was granted planning permission on December 18.

The AMEP project is expected to create 4,100 direct jobs and 1,250 construction jobs during the process.
