The contractor was handed the deal by the 389MW wind farm’s joint developers, ScottishPower Renewables and Dong Energy.
The met-mast will be sited on a monopile foundation 14km offshore in the Irish Sea.
RES Offshore has subcontracted the design and supply of the lattice tower to Danish steel tower specialist Carl C.
Scotland’s Burntisland Fabrications will produce the monopile, transition piece and platform, with GeoSea handling transportation.
RES Offshore – part of the UK’s RES group – expects to complete the work in mid-2014.
West of Duddon Sands itself is expected to be fully commissioned and operational by the end of 2014 using Siemens wind turbines.
