RES wins Duddon met-mast EPC

Work underway at the West of Duddon Sands site

RES Offshore has won an EPC contract to design and install a met-mast at the UK’s West of Duddon Sands offshore wind farm.

The contractor was handed the deal by the 389MW wind farm’s joint developers, ScottishPower Renewables and Dong Energy.

The met-mast will be sited on a monopile foundation 14km offshore in the Irish Sea.

RES Offshore has subcontracted the design and supply of the lattice tower to Danish steel tower specialist Carl C. 

Scotland’s Burntisland Fabrications will produce the monopile, transition piece and platform, with GeoSea handling transportation.

RES Offshore – part of the UK’s RES group – expects to complete the work in mid-2014.
