E.ON resubmits 700MW Rampion application

Rampion will join E.ON's 60MW Scroby Sands project in its UK portfolio

E.ON has resubmitted its planning application for the 700MW Rampion offshore wind project, two months after acknowledging that it had not spent enough time engaging with local stakeholders.

E.ON Climate & Renewables handed in its application for Rampion in December – several months later than originally envisaged – but quickly pulled it back, explaining that it needed to consult with “more distant” neighbouring authorities, such as Surrey.

E.ON intends to build Rampion, a Round 3 project originally known as Hastings, some 13km off the coast of Sussex, southern England.

Rather than simply amending its existing application, the German utility was forced to withdraw it and then resubmit a new, more complete version.

The Planning Inspectorate now has until the end of March to decide…
