The
Swedish
utility
recently
said
that
if
consent
were
granted,
it
would
start
construction
on
the
extension
in
2015.
UK
energy
secretary
Ed
Davey
said
today:
“As
well
as
providing
large
amounts
of
clean
energy,
offshore
wind
will
support
jobs
and
generate
major
investment
up
and
down
the
country.
“Vattenfall’s
decision
to
extend
an
existing
project
reflects
the
ongoing
attractiveness
of
the
UK
as
a
place
to
do
business
in
renewable
energy.”
Vattenfall
secured
an
extension
licence
for
Kentish
Flats
in
2010
and
has
awarded
Vestas
preferred
status
to
supply
between
10
and
17
of
its
V112
