Lamprell hands over second Windcarrier

Shipbuilder Lamprell has delivered its second offshore wind turbine installation vessel to Fred Olsen Windcarrier – finally fulfilling an order that became bogged down in delays.

United Arab Emirates-based Lamprell says Bold Tern has been handed over to the Norwegian customer and will begin its journey to the North Sea later this week.

The Windcarrier vessels – commissioned in 2010 – were contracted for delivery in the second and third quarter of 2012, respectively.

However, the first of them, Brave Tern, was not delivered until October last year, when Lamprell admitted the twin-vessel contract had slipped and unveiled a major shake-up that saw three of its most senior managers depart, including the CEO.
