Rösler keeps pressure on TenneT

German economics minister Philipp Rösler has urged transmission system operator (TSO) TenneT to rapidly find more investors in order to speed up delayed grid connections for German North Sea offshore wind parks.

TenneT belongs to the Dutch state and is responsible for the high-voltage power transmission grid in large parts of Germany, as well as North Sea offshore connections.

The company says it has committed almost €6bn ($8.19bn) to German offshore grid infrastructure, but can’t sustain the big investments needed alone.

In mid-January, Japanese group Mitsubishi Corporation (MC) sealed two deals with TenneT to buy into German offshore wind grid-connections, with a total investment of €576m.

But after a meeting with his Dutch counterpart Henk Kamp, Rösler said more is needed.
