Van Oord confirms Eneco EPC role

Marine contractor Van Oord has confirmed its contract to act as engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor for Dutch utility Eneco’s 129MW Luchterduinen offshore wind project, which yesterday attracted a 50% investment from Mitsubishi Corporation.

Van Oord had been named as “preferred” EPC contractor for Luchterduinen last summer.

Construction will commence in July 2014 and finish by summer 2015, with Van Oord to install monopile foundations, offshore power cables and 43 Vestas V112 turbines.

Luchterduinen represents the first major offshore wind contract for Van Oord since 2011, when it was awarded infield cabling work at the Dan Tysk project in the German North Sea being developed by Vattenfall and Stadtwerke München.

Van Oord’s work at Dan Tysk will start this spring.
