The “type certification”contract, under which the 6.15MW machine’s overall design and key componentrywill be examined and assessed, is a key quality-assurance stamp of approvalbefore a turbine is put into service in the field.
The certification processsees that double-checks are carried out on technical documentation and tests ofindividual components are performed on a test rig, after which a prototype’soverall operational performance is scrutinised.
