West of Duddon generating off UK

The first power has been piped from the UK’s 389MW West of Duddon Sands offshore wind farm.

The first four of the 108 Siemens machines to be deployed at the site are now exporting electricity, said co-developers Dong Energy and ScottishPower Renewables.

Dong and Iberdrola subsidiary ScottishPower expect to complete West of Duddon Sands later this year.

Work is being carried out at the site off northwest England using the Pacific Orca and Sea Installer vessels.
