First cabling was recently offloaded at the contractor’s port side facility in Velsen Noord, north-west of Amsterdam.
The cables were transferred onto a 750-tonne RentOcean carousel at the yard, located behind the North Sea locks at Ijmuiden. Further deliveries of cabling are expected “during 2014”.
OceanWind says the deal “shows the demand of a cable storage hub, with direct access to the North Sea”.
