E.ON flags Humber progress

E.ON said phase one of foundation installations at its 219MW Humber Gateway UK offshore wind farm is complete, with work on the second batch set to begin in April.

The German utility has installed 24 monopiles at the site off eastern England, with another 49 set to go in when work resumes.

The Round 2 project will feature 73 Vestas turbines, and is due for completion in 2015.

Two of three service vessels being built to support the plant have already been delivered and are set to begin operations.

Humber Gateway’s onshore base at Grimsby Fish Dock has also been completed, including the wind farm’s control room.

The £3m ($4.9m) O&M centre features its own renewable power including a PV array and rooftop wind turbines.
