The project is led by WeatherFlow and funded by a Virginia government agency. The Vindicator III LIDAR, packed in a WindSentinel Land Station unit, was placed on a man-made island where it will take readings for a period up to one year.

“With no measurements currently available in the coastal zone at wind turbine rotor heights, we’re looking forward to using the WindSentinel’s data to better capture the highly variable features of the coastal wind regime,” says Steve Woll, business development director at AXYS.

A
