Foundations in at Nordsee Ost

RWE Innogy has installed all 49 jacket foundations at its 295MW Nordsee Ost wind farm off the German island of Helgoland.

The foundations will support 48 Senvion 6M machines and a substation.

RWE said turbine installation is due to begin in May, with the substation following in the summer.

The German utility is aiming for grid connection by spring 2015.

The jacket foundations were installed by RWE’s own vessel Victoria Mathias, which is now in dock being adapted so that it can handle the turbine components.

It will be joined by sister vessel Friedrich Ernestine in the summer, fresh from its current duties at the UK’s Gwynt y Mor project, RWE added.
