A prize of $6.5M will be awardedto prototype a wave-energy conversion device, while the remainder of the fundingwill go toward the development and testing of hydrokinetic sensors,instruments, and processing kit.

"Through the two fundingopportunities the department issupporting design, manufacturing, demonstration, and testing of sustainable,environmentally responsible marine and hydrokinetic energy devices andcomponents," the DoE says.
