The buoy-shaped device, which uses a three-beam Vindicator III simultaneous pulse Lidar to measure wind speed, wind direction, and turbulence atturbine hub-height and across the blade span, will be moored this summer in some 40 metres of water6km offshore as part of the EU-funded multinational DemowfloatInitiative.
“This [is] a groundbreaking initiative aimed at significantly reducingthe cost of offshore wind,” states Axys chief executive Terry Tarle.
