London Array – currently the world’s most powerful operationaloffshore wind project – met the equivalent needs of about 325,000 homes, said astatement.

The wind farm’s 175 Siemens turbines benefitted from strongwind conditions in December and January, creating “near perfect” conditionsthat allowed them to pump out 15GWh on a single day on 6 January from the Thames Estuary project site.

London Array general manager Mike O’Hare said: “This excellentperformance is a testament to the quality of installed components, the wellmanaged construction project, the smooth handover to operations, the supportwe’ve had from local stakeholders and our service providers who work to keepthe turbines turning.”
