The shipment of the turbines destined for the 48MW Kaarehamn project in Sweden left Vestas’ pre-assembly facilities in Esbjerg, Denmark, yesterday.
The manufacturer claims the departure of the offshore-specific V112-3.0 MW turbines confirms its “strong presence” in the sea-based wind market.
It also marked the first shipment based on Vestas pre-assembly model, which carries out significant assembly and commissioning on land at its new Esbjerg site.
