All turbines in at 62MW Teesside
EDF Energy Renewables has installed all 27 turbines at its 62MW Teesside offshore wind farm off northeast England, with eight already supplying power to the National Grid.
The Siemens 2.3MW turbines, some 1.5km off Redcar’s coast by the French-owned developer, have been installed by the jack-up MPI Adventure operating out of the nearby port of Hartlepool.
The turbines will be turned on throughout this summer, after further technical work and testing has been carried out.
Seabed cables transmit the power to a newly constructed substation at Warrenby, near Redcar, before connecting into the grid at nearby Lackenby.
When operational the 27 turbines will be capable of generating electricity equivalent to the power consumption of 40,000 households.
