Petrofac wins €40m Siemens contract

Oil and gas services group Petrofac has secured a contract from Siemens to work on the deployment of the HelWin1 and BorWin2 offshore wind converter platforms in the German North Sea.

Under the €40m ($53m) deal, Petrofac will provide logistics management, platform support and maintenance services during the commission and testing of the two platforms.

The Siemens contract is the first won by UK-based Petrofac since it set up its Petrofac Deutschland subsidiary in late 2012 to target the offshore wind market.

Petrofac said it will support Siemens “with a full range of support solutions tailored to the demands of commissioning large platforms in the North Sea, including supply and management of jack-up accommodation barges, supply ships, standby vessels and helicopter transfers.

“Petrofac will also supply offshore crews to man and maintain platforms during the commissioning period.”

Siemens is building the 576MW HelWin1 and 800MW BorWin2 links off Helgoland for transmission system operator TenneT.
