Statkraft to run Sheringham Shoal

Statkraft is to take sole responsibility for operations and maintenance at the UK’s Sheringham Shoal offshore wind farm, as part of a deal with Norwegian co-owner Statoil.

Statkraft will assume full responsibility for running the 317MW wind farm in January next year, taking over from current operating company Scira Offshore Energy – its joint venture with Statoil which owns the plant on a 50/50 basis.

The transfer is part of a deal that will see Statoil take on O&M responsibility at Dudgeon – the up-to-400MW offshore wind farm the Norwegian duo is co-developing 20km away from Sheringham Shoal in the seas off eastern England.

A statement said the division of operation is because both companies want to gain experience as operators of offshore wind assets.

Operational staff at Sheringham Shoal will transfer from Scira to Statkraft.
