The 9,300-tonne topsides of theplatform will convertalternating current (AC) output from a trio of wind farms in the German Bight,starting with the 400MW Borkum West development, before stepping up thevoltage from 155kV to 320kV and sendingthe electricity as direct current (DC) into the country’s grid.
Installation of the topsides atop its 4,100-tonne steel jacket in some 30 metres ofwaterclears the way for connection of a high voltage subsea cable to the platformand offshore pre-commissioning tests before switch-on of the 165km-long DolWin1 transmission link.
