The new unit, to be built at Romania’s Damen shipyard, is slated to be delivered by the end of 2014, in time to start work on developer Typhoon’s Gemini project off the Netherlands’ Wadden Islands.
An 8,500-tonne, dynamically-positioned multipurpose vessel, measuring 120 metres in length with a beam of 28 metres, the unit will be equipped with a 5,000-tonne-capacity cable carousel and offshore crane designed to handle heavy, long-distance export lines.
