Areva signs offshore tower deals
French wind turbine maker Areva and compatriot contractors Entrepose Projets and Fouré Lagadec have signed an industrial partnership deal to manufacture towers for future projects off France and the south of the UK.
The agreement, which will create around 200 jobs, aims to underpin the long-term development of the offshore wind sector in France by building on the existing industrial expertise in the regions of Haute Normandie and Nord-Pas-de-Calais.
“This agreement constitute a major step in the establishment of the Areva's industrial offshore plan in France: the offshore wind sector is progressing, bringing jobs and re- industrialization to local regions,” says senior vice president of Areva's renewable energy business group Louis-François Durret.
Entrepose Projets will manufacture, through subsidiary welding specialsit CMP Dunkerque, the two upper part sections of the tower, Fouré Lagadec the lower section.
Areva was last year chosen to develop the Saint-Brieuc Bay zone's Tréport and Noirmoutier-Yeu offshore wind farms with partners GDF Suez, EDPR and Neoen Marine.
