SSE said the halt in FIDs is a response to the “continuing uncertainty” swirling around UK enery policy, especially since the opposition Labour Party pledged to freeze power prices for two years if it wins the 2015 general election.

Clarifying a report in The Daily Telegraph of comments by CEO Alistair Phillips-Davies, a spokesman said ongoing development work would continue.

SSE is involved in some of the UK’s biggest offshore wind projects, including as part of the Forewind consortium, the giant 9.6GW
