Ideol's floating foundation, based on its semi-submersible "damping pool" concept, is designed for use in waters of 35 m (114.8 ft) and deeper.
A full-scale prototype of the floater, fitted with a 2MW Gamesa turbine, is in the works for installation off the Canary Islands in 2015.
