Japan’sMinistry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) has formed a six-member panel toinvestigate the issue and submit a recommendation by the end of this year.

The group — which includesthree academics from the University of Tokyo, the president of AshikagaInstitute of Technology, and representatives from Mizuho Corporate Advisory andErnst & Young ShinNihon — is studying projects underway inJapan and offshore wind farms abroad to potentially set the new FIT rate.
