RES, CT get Borkum Riffgrund work
Contractors RES Offshore and CT Offshore have been tapped to design the layout of interarray cables at Dong Energy’s Borkum Riffgrund 1 wind farm off Germany.
The scope of work, which builds on pre-project engineering carried out by the two companies last year, encompasses routing 43 lines for the 77 turbine development, with a full suite of documents and charts provided for the cabling network.
“Our broad skills and knowledge allow us to undertake the full range of services; from the conceptual stage, right through to the O&M phase for the offshore renewable market; allowing us to cover all aspects of offshore renewable engineering and project management tasks,” says RES Offshore senior project manager for cables Kevin Todd.
Construction of the 320MW Borkum Riffgrund 1 project is underway, with expectations the development, being built with Siemens 3.6MW turbines, will be flowing power by next year.
The wind farm, located 55km off the north-west coast of Germany, will be one of Germany’s largest, producing enough electricity to supply nearly 330,000 households.
