A UK member of parliament claimed allowing Chinese wind group Mingyang to build a turbine factory in Scotland would be handing over a key role in the energy transition to an “entity that comes from an authoritarian and hostile state”.
Stewart McDonald, who represents part of the Scottish city of Glasgow, spoke out after a Mingyang plan to build an offshore wind turbine plant was named on a shortlist of “priority projects” to help Scotland meet its offshore wind ambitions.
