Siemens wins 15MW German order

SWT-3.0-101s with a total capacity of 72MW have been ordered for four French onshore wind farms

The plant will use 3MW Siemens machines

Siemens Energy will install five SWT-3.0-113 onshore wind turbines at the 15MW Kniphagen plant in the north German region of Ostholstein, close to the coast of the Baltic Sea.

The order includes a 20-year service and maintenance agreement.

The deal will be the first time Siemens direct-drive turbines are installed in that region, said the German group.

Kniphagen is scheduled to be connected to grid in 2014.

Developer Windpark Kniphagen said it chose the gearless turbines with efficiency and availability in mind.
