Vestas celebrates wind pioneer role

After a tough few years, renewables are ready to shine again

Vestas turbines were first movers in many countries

Vestas has unveiled a new campaign celebrating its pioneering role in wind markets around the world.

The Danish turbine giant said Wind Power Pioneers marks its unique status as first mover in more than 35 countries, stretching back to the earliest days of the wind industry in 1978.

A special website dedicated to the campaign shows how the company worked with partners to overcome early challenges in areas such as grid connections, logistics and wind measurement – and tells the story behind Vestas turbines that were the first into their markets.

The Danish group launched Wind Power Pioneers at EWEA 2014 in Barcelona today.

Vestas senior vice president, and group chief marketing and communication officer Morten Albæk said: “Our job is ongoing, and our goal is to keep pushing the boundaries so that our customers’ wind power projects can become a reality regardless of location, climatic conditions, regulatory situation or infrastructures.”
