Innogy, the renewables arm of German utility RWE, will sell a 49% stake in the yet-to-be-built 67MW Königshovener Höhe wind farm to the nearby western German town of Bedburg.
Construction of the 21 turbines at the wind farm on an area
reclaimed from a former open-cast coal mine will start in the coming weeks.
“The energy transition arrived at the local level long ago.
We were able to sign a partnership for the realization of the onshore wind farm
Könighover Höhe with RWE Innogy as a competent partner, who has operated in our
region for a long time,” Bedburg mayor Gunnar Koerdt says.
“With a share of the wind farm we can make a small
contribution to the energy transition. At the same time we can to relieve our
budget on a long term basis.”
