SSE gets nod for 108MW Bhlaraidh

The wind farm will join these turbines in SSE's wind fleet
SSE has won consent from the Scottish government for its Bhlaraidh wind farm in the Scottish Highlands, which would become one of the UK’s largest onshore wind farms if built to its full capacity.

The project is approved for up to 32 turbines and 108MW of capacity, which would secure it a place on the current top 10 list of UK projects by size.

The project is sited in Scotland’s Great Glen to the northwest of Invermoriston, an area already notable for hosting several sizable wind farms, including Falck Renewables’ 40MW Millennium project.

“Work to address the conditions associated with the consent will now commence ahead of the construction phase,” says SSE director of onshore renewables Colin Nicol.

SSE is one of the largest onshore wind owners and developers in the UK.
