Danish group Vestas has confirmed that its wind turbines will equip the first utility-scale wind farm in Jordan.

Starting from the second quarter of next year, Vestas will deliver its V112-3.0 MW turbines to the 117MW Al Tafila wind farm, 180km south of Amman.

The plant is expected to start operating in the second quarter of 2015 and the deal includes a 10-year service agreement.

Vestas has been linked with the project for some months, but confirmed this morning that developer Jordan Wind Project Company (JWPC) has placed a firm order.
