Vestas has won a 22-turbine order from new customer Kangal Elektrik Uretim, which is building its first wind project in its home market of Turkey.

Vestas will begin delivering the V100-2.0MW machines in early 2014, install them through the spring and summer in Sivas province, and commission the project by the third-quarter.

The deal also includes an eight-year full-scope availability agreement.

The Kangal RES wind farm is expected to generate 130,000MWh per year.

The order “reflects the confidence” Vestas has built in the Turkish market, says Olcayto Yigit, general manager for Vestas Turkey.

Vestas, which established an office in Istanbul more than five years ago, claims to have supplied more than 600MW to the country.
