Denmark's Nysted offshore wind farm has marked a decade in operation.

The 72-turbine Dong Energy development, located south of Lolland in the Baltic Sea, has recorded a 98% uptime during its 10 years of operation.

"Nysted formed the basis for the development of offshore wind turbines in a number of areas from EIA [environmental impact assessment] investigation, preparation of preliminary surveys within geosciences, wind, waves, etc," says head of engineering Tove Feld.

"It has also provided important knowledge in terms of design, wind farm layout, fabrication, testing, installation, substation concept, and grid connection."

Nysted, which is powered by 2.3MW "Danish design" Siemens turbines arrayed in an eight-row parallelogram, has flowed on average 595GWh a Log in to read complete article.
