Iberdrola to build 61MW Kenya plant

Iberdrola Engineering has signed an €85m ($116.2m) deal to build the 61MW Kinangop wind farm in Kenya.

The Spanish group signed a turnkey deal with developer Aeolus Kenya to deliver the project, sited 40km northwest of Nairobi.

Kinangop recently secured investment from the African Infrastructure Investment Fund 2 and Norfund, the Norwegian investment fund for developing nations.

GE is supplying 38 1.6MW wind turbines to the project.

Iberdrola is already building Kenya’s 13.6MW Ngong 2 wind farm as part of a consortium with Spanish compatriot Gamesa.
