Areva renewables revenues up

The Renewable Energy unit of French nuclear giant Areva boosted revenue by 23.3% to €105m ($136.5m) in the first quarter of 2013, compared with the same three months last year.

Areva said revenue grew as work progressed on the Global Tech 1 offshore wind project, and thanks to concentrating solar power (CSP) projects in Australia and India.

The renewables business group saw its backlog fall to €734m by the end of March from €1.7bn at the same stage last year.

Areva said this was because of project completion and the cancellation of some bioenergy orders in Brazil.

Areva does not publish detailed profit figures at the quarter-year stage.
