IN DEPTH: Vattenfall lays its wind plans

Sweden's Vattenfall plans to invest SKr19bn ($3bn) in wind power over the next five years.

With that money to be evenly split between offshore and onshore wind, the utility has significant ambitions in both.

When looking at future offshore projects, the strategy is clear – it’s all about clusters, says Georg Friedrichs, head of Vattenfall Offshore Wind Projects.

“We don’t believe that cost levels that are cost effective can be achieved at a single project, so whatever we do in the future in offshore, we will do in the so-called cluster approach,” he tells Recharge.
