Forewind says no decisions yet on Dogger turbines

A spokeswoman for Forewind – developer of the 9GW Dogger Bank UK Round 3 offshore wind project – says no final decision had been taken on wind turbines for the lead-off phase of the mega-development, for which the consortium is currently drawing up a draft environmental impact assessment.

Last week, Jin Kato, general manager of the Wind Turbine Business Division of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) told Recharge that MHI expects to supply 700 of its 7MW Sea Angel turbines – or around 5GW,  to Forewind participant SSE for projects including Dogger.

The Forewind spokeswoman says: “[Mitsubishi] was talking about a relationship with SSE, but from Forewind’s perspective the turbines are nowhere near selected. Ultimately we are the developers and it will be the operator [of the 2.4GW Creyke Beck development] that will make the final selection.”
