EDPR boosts 2012 output and profits

Portuguese wind giant EDPR reaped the rewards of higher output and power prices as it boosted sales and profits last year.

EDPR generated 18.4TWh of power in 2012, a 10% growth on the previous year, as it brought an extra 500MW of capacity into service, ending the year with 7.99GW.

The group’s average electricity selling price hit €63.5/MWh, a 10% rise.

That helped drive net profit up 43% to €126m.

EDPR says it expects to add about 500MW in 2013, with Poland, Romania, France, Italy and Canada earmarked for growth.
