Sweden expects 36% wind boost

Sweden's wind-power production is expected to grow by 36% in 2013 over last year to reach 9.7TWh, according to the Swedish Wind Energy Association (SWEA).

2012 was a record year for wind power in Sweden, with 846MW of new installed capacity equivalent to investments of SKr12bn ($1.9bn). By the end of last year, a total of 3.74GW was installed in the country.

The positive trend is expected to continue in 2013, says SWEA.

Firm decisions have already been taken to install an extra 345 turbines with a total capacity of 825MW in 2013. A large number of projects already with permission could also see installations during the year, adds SWEA.
