Vattenfall sets course for wind growth

The UK's Ormonde is the latest addition to Vattenfall's wind fleet

Swedish utility Vattenfall reported a 6% boost in wind generation in 2012, as it reiterated its commitment to make the renewable source the biggest single focus of its investments in the coming years.

Vattenfall’s wind fleet produced 3.6TWh last year, up from 3.4TWh in 2011, mainly thanks to the commissioning of the 150MW Ormonde offshore plant in the UK.

Over the five years Vattenfall plans to put SKr19bn ($2.97bn) into wind, roughly evenly divided between onshore and offshore, the largest chunk that is earmarked for investment in new production.
