EDF buys 56MW French wind portfolio

EDF Energies Nouvelles (EDF EN) has spent €59m ($79m) to acquire a 56.5MW French wind farm portfolio.

EDF EN bought the six operating plants and the rest of the wind power business of Séchilienne Sidec, a French power-producer specialising in biomass.

The wind business also includes a further five projects in the development phase, for which EDF EN will pay an undisclosed additional sum.

The French renewables giant says its EDF EN Services unit will take over operations at the plants.

In December EDF was part of a group that bought a 321MW French portfolio from Spain's Iberdrola.
