PNE moves on with Scottish wind

FCS opened Scotland's forests for wind two years ago

PNE Wind UK has agreed the “template legal documentation” with the Forestry Commission of Scotland (FCS), allowing it to push to a more advanced phase of development of up to 200MW of onshore wind capacity in central Scotland.

PNE was awarded the central Scotland “Lot 2” zone – covering the Tay, Cowal and Trossachs forest districts – when the FCS opened Scotland’s national forests to wind developers two years ago. 

E.ON Climate & Renewables won zones covering the west and northwest of Scotland, while Fred Olsen Renewables and ScottishPower Renewables won zones covering the northeast and southwest, respectively.

In total, the FCS envisages up to 500MW of wind capacity being brought on line within Scotland’s national forests, which will go a long way towards helping the country meet its Log in to read complete article.
