Growth in renewable energy generation is far outpacing construction of new nuclear plants, according to a report from GBI Research.

The UK consultancy's Power Markets in Western Europe to 2020 shows that the ten largest Western European power markets –  Germany, France, the UK, Italy, Spain, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Ireland –  will increase renewables installed capacity from 308.5GW last year to 466.9GW in 2020, at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5.3%.

Nuclear build-out for these countries, in same time frame, will grow from 104GW to 105.6GW, representing a CAGR of only 0.2%.
