E.ON hands Alicat four-vessel order for offshore wind work

UK boat-builder Alicat Workboats has won an order from developer E.ON for four new offshore wind service vessels.

The first of the high-speed catamarans will be delivered in mid-2013 for the Robin Rigg development off the Solway Firth.

Powered by two MAN V12 engines and jet propulsion via twin Rolls-Royce Kamewa Jets, the Global Marine Design 19-metre workboats will be able to travel at up to 30 knots.

Alicat, based near E.ON’s Scroby Sands wind logistics centre in Norfolk, eastern England, was set up in 2009 to supply operation and maintenance support to the offshore wind sector.
